a new way to procrastinate...

2009

So there will be a lot of changes this year, starting with a new place to work. My new store seems small but nice and management is cool. I just can't work as much as last semester or this past week....I have the aches and pains of a 50 year old with arthritis haha...

Another change will be the move back to Mass, hopefully I'll get into grad school and I've already talked to Starbucks about transferring in July. Not much else to report as of yet, just the boys looking for a house to buy and me waiting to hear if they have every piece of my application....oh and the finding of the most mold I have ever seen in one place-I really can't wait till I live with people who remember to throw things away lol.

Things to know...

All taxi drivers are insane so just smile and shrug when they start talking to you in Hebrew and say a quick prayer for your life before they start driving
There is more than one train station in Tel Aviv-trust me...I visited them all in one day
Israeli public buses are truly an experience and everyone should take one at least once
When they say everyone in Israel knows a little English the key word is *little*
Sitting at an outside table for breakfast may seem like a good idea but watching older men jiggle as they walk by in speedos tends to make you lose your appetite
When using an ATM the amount of money you choose comes out in shekels and 90 shekels may seem like a lot till you realize its only $26
Kibbutz life is amazing-everyone has a dog you can play with!
Kibbutz food is rather bland-ketchup becomes your new best friend
There are both scorpions and two types of poisonous snakes in Israel-and I will be weeding tall grass for the next couple of days...

Oh and if anyone wants to check out the blog for the dig:

Professional Gaffer

I'm starting to get a little nervous about going to Israel especially with everyone warning me about crowds and public transportation...but still really excited. It should be a lot of hard work yet I think I'll have a lot of fun too and hopefully I'll have enough time to travel to Jerusalem at least once.

To keep my mind off of the trip I'm working a lot and watching a lot of cooking shows. I have a three course meal planned for next Tuesday...that I've been told sounds "mouth-watering good" haha....I also stayed later at work today to learn how to set up microphones which was really interesting and I hope to be able to help with that again.

Ok time for dinner and a movie with some of the girls!

I'm Free!..

This summer should be so much fun....rooming with Iris, then Israel and then moving into the apartment! Ah! Plus a couple of visits to NY to see Ed. I don't know how this summer could get any better....ok well off to work and then my birthday dinner!

Fun times ahead

The next few months should be rather hectic but fun. First Tom's ship comes in the end of April and a bunch of my family and I will be there for it. Then my uncle Leo and aunt Marilyn are going to visit me. A week after that the senior center will be taking a bus trip down to DC too. I believe the next week is the Tom Petty concert-I am so excited! And on June 13th I will be leaving for Israel! I can't believe how soon I'll be there. It will be a lot of hard work but I am looking forward to it...and I plan on packing a hell of a lot of sun screen hahaha.

Oh yeah I almost forgot Ed's going to visit me too and I'll be 21! It's so weird to go from being of age to drink in Scotland to being illegal again....

Damn Trees

So last night I went to see the Other Boleyn Girl with some of the girls. It was a lot better than I expected and definitely not a chick flick. On the way back I was walking next to Dara's friend Alex and Sonali was talking about how she had walked into a sign the day before. Some how I managed to not look where I was going and walked into a tree....my coat got stuck on the branches and I couldn't free myself because I was laughing so hard....and of course Alex was still kind of drunk so he just stood there and was like 'wow' hahahha...Its been a while since I've laughed that hard and it felt good. Things get so complicated in life that its easy to forget how good laughing feels.
